Repeatable EXP Quests

Eighteen NPCs scattered across the fields of Midgard will take the same job from you over and over. They come in two shapes: item turn-ins, where you hand over a stack of monster drops, and monster hunting, where you kill a set number of a single monster. Both pay Base and Job EXP, both can be repeated as often as you like.

There is no cooldown and no daily cap. The only thing slowing you down is how fast the drops fall and how fast you kill.

How much they pay#

Quest EXP on SecondWind RO runs at 2x for these quests, not the 3x that applies to quest rewards elsewhere. The numbers below are what you receive.

Two things worth knowing before you plan around them:

The reward is a fixed number, not a percentage. A turn-in that hands you most of a level at the bottom of an NPC's range is worth a fraction of one near the top. Do them early in the range if you want them to count.

Multiple levels from one turn-in do not stack. Anything beyond the level you gain is discarded, so handing in a huge stack at low level wastes most of it. Spread turn-ins out.

Item turn-in quests#

Collect the items, hand them over, walk away. The items are ordinary drops, so you can farm them whenever, buy them off other players, or stockpile them on a mule for a character you have not made yet.

Monster hunting quests#

No items needed here. Take the job, kill the number it asks for, come back.

Most of these NPCs let you pick the size when you accept, and the reward scales with it:

Kills Reward
50 the EXP listed below
100 double
150 triple

Hunting in a party#

Everyone in the party gets the kill. The credit does not go only to whoever landed the blow. Every party member within about 20 cells of the monster has their own counter advanced by the same kill. Hunting the same quest together is as fast for each of you as soloing it, which makes these the rare quests where grouping up costs nothing.

The distance is measured from the monster, not from the killer, and 20 cells is a little more generous here than on most servers. The sync range was widened from the default 14 so ranged classes render properly at our zoom level.

Deadman runs two separate hunts from the same spot, with different monsters and different level ranges. You can work on both.

Mantis Researcher, Dragon Hunter and Deadman have no item option and no size choice. Theirs are always 50 kills. Everyone else in this table is the same NPC as in the item list above, offering both.

Take a hunt from an NPC and you cannot turn items in to that same NPC until you finish it or abandon it. Other NPCs are unaffected, and abandoning costs you nothing but the progress on that one hunt.

Note that Dragon Hunter stands inside Louyang Dungeon rather than on a field map, so you will need to get there on foot the first time, which also unlocks it for your Warper.

Why bother#

The obvious reason is EXP without a party, in a level bracket that suits you, at a pace you set. The less obvious one is that these NPCs sit on maps you might otherwise never visit, which feeds your World Explorer count and your Warper unlocks while you are busy doing something else.

They also pair well with the Hunting Missions board in Prontera, which is a separate system with its own daily rhythm and its own currency.
