Costume Converter

Turn a headgear into a costume so you can wear the look you want and the stats you need at the same time.

Costume Converter

Ragnarok gives you three head slots and every hat wants one of them. That forces a choice nobody enjoys. Wear the hat with the good stats, or wear the hat you like the look of.

The Costume Converter removes the choice. Hand it a headgear and it turns that headgear into a costume. Costumes sit in their own three slots, purely for appearance, and they leave your real head slots free.

Where to find it#

Costume Converter stands in Prontera at , west of the fountain.

What it does#

Bring any headgear you own. The converter moves it into the matching costume slot depending on where the hat normally sits.

A hat that normally goes on becomes a costume in
Upper head Upper costume slot
Middle head Middle costume slot
Lower head Lower costume slot

The item keeps its name and its appearance. It loses everything else. No defence, no stat bonuses, no card slots, no script effects. A converted Feather Beret looks like a Feather Beret and does nothing.

That is the point. If converted hats kept their stats you could wear six hats at once, and the whole game balance would fall over.

What it costs#

Converting one headgear costs 1,000,000 zeny, or a single Costume Ticket instead. You choose at the counter. Costume Tickets come from Lydia, from Hobota and from the Vote Shop.

Changing your mind#

The converter also runs the other way. Turning a costume back into a normal headgear costs 1,000,000 zeny, and the item comes back exactly as it was, stats and slots included.

Nothing is destroyed in either direction. The same hat can go back and forth as often as you can afford it.

Things worth knowing#

Cards stay where they are. A slotted hat with a card in it can be converted, and the card is still in there when you convert it back. It does nothing while the hat is a costume.

Refine levels survive too. A +10 hat is still +10 after the round trip.

Two identical hats do not get confused. The converter works on the item you have equipped in that slot, not on the item ID, so owning three of the same hat is not a problem.

Costume garments are not included. Only head slots. Pre-Renewal garments have no separate appearance data at all, so a costume garment would be invisible on your character. There is nothing to show, so we left it out rather than sell you an empty slot.

How to tell them apart#

A converted item is marked as a costume in its description, and the item window names "Costume" as its creator. If you are unsure whether the hat in your storage is the converted one or the original, that is where to look.
