Custom Rebirth

Transcendent is where official Ragnarok stops. Here it is the point where a second system opens up.

After your first official rebirth, the Job Master offers Custom Rebirth, and you can do it up to five times. Each cycle sends you back to level 1 and gives you something permanent in exchange.

What each cycle gives you#

The EXP bonus stacks on top of the server rate rather than replacing it. One cycle takes you from 5x to 7x personally. All five put you at 15x, permanently, on every character you prestige.

The combat bonuses work the same way. There is no buff icon, nothing to refresh, and Dispel cannot touch them. They count in every fight, and @myrates shows your current totals.

Costume and title per cycle#

Each cycle also hands you a costume and a title. The costumes are bound to the character that earned them, and none of them can be bought or found anywhere else on the server.

The five cover four different slots, so a character that finishes all of them can wear one costume from each slot at the same time and keep the spare garment for a change of look.

Titles become selectable in the achievement window after your next login. On top of that, each cycle comes with a supply pack of one Battle Manual (Bound) and one Wanderer's Wing for the climb back. The wing gives you unlimited teleports for 7 days and runs in real time, so it keeps ticking while you are offline.

How it works#

Talk to the Job Master at /navi prt_in 38/104. The Custom Rebirth option appears once you have completed your first official Transcendent rebirth, and the dialogue lists what the next cycle gives you before you commit.

Costume and supplies land in your inventory the moment you rebirth. If your inventory is too full, they arrive on your next login instead.

Check what you are earning with @myrates. Compare it against @rates, which shows the plain server numbers, and the difference is your prestige.

Finishing the fifth cycle is announced to the whole server.

Every class can do this. The classes with no Transcendent path, meaning Super Novice, the TaeKwon line, Gunslinger and Ninja, get their own Custom Rebirth entry at the Job Master. On most servers those classes have no endgame progression at all. Here they get the same five cycles.

Is it worth doing#

The first cycle is the easy answer. Going from 5x to 7x means the climb back is meaningfully faster than the climb you just finished, so you lose less time than you think, and you keep 15 stat points and a 2% damage edge forever.

Each cycle after that is a slightly worse deal on its own and a slightly better one in total, because the EXP bonus compounds against the levelling you have left. By the fifth, releveling at 15x is quick enough that the permanent bonuses are the only thing you are really thinking about.

Nobody has to do any of it. A character that never prestiges is a perfectly normal endgame character. This is for people who reached 99 and found they were not finished.

What you keep and what you lose#

You lose your levels. That is the whole trade and there is no way around it.

You keep everything else. Gear, storage, zeny, cards, pets, achievements, unlocked Warper destinations, all of it. Rebirth follows the classic rules, so nothing outside your level and stat allocation is touched.

Your account-wide progress is untouched too, because it belongs to the account rather than the character.

Common questions#

Does the EXP bonus help my party? It applies to your own EXP. The party share bonus of 15 percent per extra member applies on top for everybody, prestige or not.

Do the combat bonuses count in PvP and WoE? Yes. They are part of your character, the same as stat points, and apply on every map.

Can I stop partway? Yes. Three cycles is a perfectly reasonable place to stop, and there is no penalty for never using the other two.

Where can I see my prestige level? Your title shows it, @myrates lists your bonuses, and the Job Master tells you how many cycles you have used when you talk to him.

Does it stack with a Battle Manual? Yes. @myrates shows the combined figure, which is the number landing in your experience bar.
